One of these experts is Hussain Rezai. He shares what his job entails and how he enjoys it: "At Fonville, I'm out and about every day, providing clients with a clean working and living environment. Whether it's washing windows, cleaning floors, or maintaining staircases, I do it with great pleasure!"

The Journey to a Safe and Trusted Environment

The journey Hussain took to get where he is today wasn’t without its challenges. "I was born in Afghanistan. When I was six, a war broke out. We had to leave everything behind and fled to Iran. There, I spent my childhood and grew up. It was a turbulent time with a lot of unrest in the country. About 22 years later, Iran was no longer safe either. I was married by then, and together with my wife and two children, we had to flee again. We tried to build a life in our home country, Afghanistan. But it quickly became clear that a safe future was also out of reach there. After a 50-day journey, we made our way to Europe. We arrived in the Netherlands in November 2015. At that time, we weren't the only refugees from the region, so we wandered from asylum center to asylum center for a while in the Netherlands."

Looking for a New Career

Hussain settled in Nieuw-Buinen in July 2017. From that moment on, it was time to build a future. He learned the Dutch language and began searching for work. "I used to work as a bag maker," Hussain explains. "A hands-on profession, but one that is not very common in the Netherlands, especially not in a village like Nieuw-Buinen. So, I had to look for a new career. I really wanted to work! In 2019, I was introduced to the cleaning industry, and I really enjoy this work. However, I couldn’t get enough hours with my previous employer. In 2021, Fonville came my way. They offered me full-time work. I made the switch and I haven’t regretted it for a second."

"I find window washing the most enjoyable part of my job. Every time in a new place with a different view. It gives me a lot of satisfaction. Fonville has really welcomed me, and the atmosphere in the company is great. The door is always open, and colleagues are always willing to help. Sometimes I work with colleagues on-site, and sometimes alone. When I’m by myself and have questions, someone is always ready to help. A phone call is enough. Even if the colleague is not at work at that moment, I can call. That’s really nice!"
