"Anyone can clean, but cleaning well and efficiently is a whole different skill," Carla begins. This statement is closely tied to Fonville's mission to excel together. Carla travels across the Netherlands, from Limburg to Ameland, to train, coach, and guide her (new) colleagues.

"My job is to teach colleagues how to perform their tasks well, efficiently, and enjoyably, using methods that are engaging and easy to understand," she explains.

The Importance of Sustainable Cleaning

Carla highlights the significance of sustainable cleaning practices. “It’s not about cleaning a location as quickly as possible; it’s about cleaning sustainably,” she explains. This includes protecting one’s body to work comfortably and pain-free by using ergonomically responsible techniques and tools.

"We know that working in the cleaning industry can take a physical toll over time. By supporting colleagues and offering practical advice on how to perform their tasks correctly, we’ve seen a significant reduction in work-related complaints,” Carla shares.

Continuous innovation is essential, and Carla emphasizes the importance of integrating technology into the training process. This includes developing tools in multiple languages and focusing on ergonomics.

"I adapt my teaching style to the group of colleagues I’m working with," Carla explains. "Language can sometimes be a barrier, so it’s great to have access to tools that help bridge that gap. These tools enable me to provide training to colleagues who don’t speak Dutch.”
